Walnut ink on watercolour paper

Scale variable: 4 x 6 inches – 12 x 12 inches; currently at 75 drawings

This series of ink drawings are mainly based on images of of clearcuts sent to me by tree planters. On watercolour paper I have rendered them in walnut ink to court accidents and encourage serendipity. Sometimes I score grids into the paper to imply a human urge for control. These lines also create channels for the ink to flow into and beyond the image, creating a complexity of perception and layered imagery. I strive for the image to be transformed by the water-based media itself. To be as sustainable as possible with this treebased paper I am drawing on the back of the cover of the pad, the backing board and weaving offcuts.
